Back in January 2007
Tony is not new to the music scene here in the Midlands, for the last
18 months he has particularly spent more time singing and playing that superb finger picking
guitar style of his and with a voice that everyone just seems to love.
Every now and then, Tony would perform a Jim Reeves song and the audience
just go silent! I watch, listen and see the respect and admiration for this fine
ballad come folk singer.
Tony is the first to say there is only one Jim Reeves, and he himself
has been heavily involved in the promotion of the late Jim Reeves in this country including the TVS documentary come biography
“Gentleman Jim” Story of A Legend.
He knew Mary Reeves and spent trips to Nashville with the Reeves people including
in 1984 the great Chet Atkins.
He is well known and respected amongst the Jim Reeves Fans in the UK.
Tony was born in Birmingham one of five to Ernest and
Lucy Wall.
Dad played harmonica and we used to play and sing at home, Tony told
me.
Tony grew up on The Beatles, Elvis, Tom Paxton and Jim Reeves.
Later favorites and influences were Don Williams and John Denver.
He now lives in Aldridge near Walsall, England
His wife of 27 years, Lena died suddenly on the 30th July 2001, ironically if she had lived one more day she would
have died on the same date as Jim Reeves!
His children have grown up now and who knows perhaps it could be Tony’s
time to fly.
Hope so.
Sit back and listen, I think you will be pleasantly surprised and like
me wonder how long before someone from the major record industry notices this talent.
